(above letterhead) Did not rec'd my money-order and am dead-broke but will try and get along until I rec'd it. (immediately under letter head) Rec'd Mon Aug 26 Oceantime 1PM(11 PM Pitts time) July 20-198 onboard ship My dear honey-wife Well here I am writing a letter to you out in the middle of the ocean. Just got off guard duty at 12 noon and go back at 4 pm until 6pm. The work is not hard, but at time it get tiresome on the eyes we are relieved every 15 or 20 minutes for two hours so you see we are on duty only about one hour out of six. We left Camp Upton on Sat July 13 and left the sea port the following morning. Did not get a bit seasick and am enjoying my trip very nicely considering the number of men and the other loads that they have aboard. Meals are just like them at Camp Humphey. Having been reading book to pass time away. Read that book of the movies picture called The Fair Barbarian....
