Dear Honey,
Well here it is Easter and I am thousands of miles from home, but don't you worry in another month or so I will be thousands of miles away from here.  Today is my day off and I am sure glad of it.  Have been working mighty hard now, because we are getting more grub to cook and more men to feed.  This morning I did not get up until about 8-30.  We had eggs hot cakes syrup butter jam bacon and coffee for breakfast.  For dinner had steak mashed potatoes, corn, apple sauce cake doughnuts oranges bread and coffee and plenty of it.  For supper I don't know what but it won't be much for the men won't be hungry after eating the other two big meals.  I got a letter from Schaf yesterday, he is on his furlough to England.  Also got two letters from you no 150-151. And one from Gert Snaman and Geo Zurck.  Also got two bundles of papers.  The last few days we have been having some fine hot days but today is a clear day with a cool wind blowing.  I went to the ball game upon the hill, but it was a little too windy up there, so I thought I would come and write you a few words.  We did not have any Easter services here and besides it been so long since I have been in church that I am afraid I won't know hoe to behave.  I am all dolled up today, got my only suit of clothes pressed and I have no place to go.  Oh well I don't want to go no place but I do want to go home and that toot sweet I think when we go we will have nice weather all the way and it won't be so cold sleeping in the box-cars at night, but I look for about three or four nights of sleeping in them before we get to the port.  We are booked to sail around  Marg birthday that is, if everything goes OK.  The country around here that is about 18 miles south of Verdun was not damaged and is a very pretty place and not very hilly.  Well honey I guess this will be all for this time and maybe I will have a chance to write a few more letters yet so will stop and send my honey all my love and kisses from her soldier hubby
