My dear honey
Well here I am back in the good old U.S.A. and the first thing I did was to call up Louis Hopp but I could not get them last night so I called up this morning and finally got her. She did not know who it was at first and when I told her, she was surprised and glad. She said you and Marg were there about a week ago, but were disappointed. At that time I was on the water, but I could not send a cable. But as soon as I landed I sent two telegrams and several postal cards. We arrived in Brooklyn yesterday morning about 9 a.m. and here in camp about 4:30 pm. Had supper and tried to call up L Hopp but did not get her. after that we went thru the delousing machine, but I was not lousy in fact I was clean all the time in France and did not get acquainted with the cooties. It was about midnight when we got thru and believe me, I was about all in. I did not get a good night sleep on the boat otherwise I enjoyed the trip, not even making me sick. Well you can't kill me, make no different, where I go or what you feed me, in fact, I seem to get fat on it, now weigh about 162 lbs. I work every other day on the boat cutting meat and I had the best meals on that boat that I have had since I left home. The only trouble was that I had to stand up and eat. I talked to Mrs. Hopp about fifteen minutes and she wanted me to come down and visited her. I said I would if I could get leave of absent. But I would have to get my clothes in shape first for after going thru the delousing they get all wrinkled up but if I can get away I will sure do it. I think I will be here for about a week, that is about the average stay of the boys here. Well honey I could keep on writing all day, but I can talk better when I see you and oh I wish that was soon. Well I will have to be patient and wait. Gee it hard for me to write, I am so nervous and anxious to see my honey and the folks at home. Will stop now and send my honey all my love & kisses
