Dear Honey,
After waiting for three weeks I finally got some mails, three letters and a postcard.  Got your letter (no 15) written Aug 9 and a postal from Alice also a letter from Schafer and one from Rev. Waddell.  Schafer has been feeling fine and working hard as he says in his letter.  Mr. Waddell has left Paris but he says to remember him to the folks at home.  He had a fine time while in England.  He did not say anything about coming down to our camp.  They are kept busy and don't have much time to themselves.
Well I am still at the same old job working in the kitchen.  Nothing new around here, only that the war is still on.  For the last two weeks we have had more rain here than over home in a year.  Just rain continually for two weeks.  Believe me we had some mud to wade in, but the last two days the sun was shining and now everthing is just as it was before the rain.  It soon dried up.  The nigts are gradually getting cooler and the day cooler and shorter.  We eat breakfast in the dar, no light only a few candles.  Weigh about 165 lbs, had my picture taken last Sunday but will have to take it over again  (COS--cut out section) I moved my head and spoiled the picture. Borig (COS) couple dozen fresh eggs this week and (COS) they were mighty good with toast & butter (COS)  are the same as usual.  Today for dinner (COS) Fig pudding, baked beans, coffee and bread.  (COS) be a treat for the boys.  Other days we have (COS) potatoes with the jacket on (skin on) rice water  or coffee.  At breakfast we have bacon, gr (COS) coffee and bread but eat very little breakfast.  Usually have my dinner about 11-30 AM and supper about 5PM.  (COS).  Have a book of french words and study it when I have time.  Well I guess that is about all I have to say at this writing.  I will close and hope that the day is not far off when I will be with my little honey bunch and send my love and kisses to you and all the folks at him.  I remain as ever faithful Your Soldier Hubby Clarence.  Priv CR Mccafferty CoB 47th Engineer American E.
