Dear Honey,
Well here I am in the southern part of France and at the famous world-known resort "Monte Carlo".  You maybe have seen movies of this place, but I am doing the moving now.  On the go all the time, I guess by the time I get ready to leave (Apr 10) I will be ready for another leave.  I kind of think that we won't go back to Verdun, but go to a mobilizing camp and "partes too sweet".
I got here yesterday afternoon about four pm got assigned to the "Sun Palace Hotel" wich is just as the name means and overlooking the sea and a swell place it is.  I went to the show at the Y last night and when the show was over at 11-30 pm I went back to the hotel.  I was good and tired, traveling day and not and not sleeping in the car, you couldn't sleep.  I got up this am about seven but did not have breakfast until after eight.  I took a walk and got in with a bunch of boys.  We had a guide and he took us thru the Casino-the place where fortunes are made & lost.  Well believe me I thought I had seen some fine buildings in my traveling but this is the most wonderful building I have ever seen not only this building alone, but there are many others.  We walk around for a while sightseeing and went over to the museum about one mile walk and there we went thru another fine building cut out of a rock.  I won't try to explain it all now, for it will take too much paper and beside I can do it better in person.  I am sending some photos and post cards of the place home.  I wouldn't mind living in a place like this, but still I think it a living too high for me.  It takes money and plenty of it to live here.  No, the boys are not allowed in the Casino and other gambling when it is remaining joints.  Well as for me I have no use for them.  We had dinner near the Museum in a cafe and after that we took a train and went up in the mountain to a place called La Turbie, another ancient village.  A monument is still there built BC 13.  Also I have pictures of it and will send them home.  I never got back until about 4-30 pm and went over to the Y to watch them dancing.  Oh by the way the Y has certainly got a fine building and it is open all the time to the AEF boys only.  Will tell you about this building in person.  Last night I left my watch at the jeweler to be fixed.  It is a 21 jewel Swiss watch that I bought off one of our boys a few months ago.  I got it very reasonable.  Well I feel so dirty after hiking all day that I think I had better go and wash up a bit and then eat supper at 6-30 pm.  Gee but it is a relief to get away for a few days and have a good time where nobody will be interfering with you altho we have to be careful.  Well honey I will stop now and write more later.  With all my love & kisses to my darling wife
