Dear Honey,
Just got wash and shaved now so I thought I would write a few line (darn this pencil it break to much). I rec'd the 3 Pitts paper on Tuesday, they made good time getting over, even getting them quicker than the letters. Since being over in France we have not been attached to any division, but we got order on Sunday that we are not attached to the (cut out). We have a new address but I don't know what it is yet. Send the mail to me by the old address. I had a chance for a seven day furlough up to a rest camp near Switzerland, but you have to have about two hundred franc for spending money. The government pays for everything else. If I would have had the money I would have went, but nothing doing. We now have a place to loaf at night, built another barrack, where we can read and also at one end of it, we have a little bathing place. I see in the N.Y. Herald where serveral divisions are going to stay here as the Army of Occupation, but our division is not among them. I was some busy cook yesterday. The other cook has had a bad cold lately and yesterday he was in bed nearly all day so that left me to prepare the meals for two hundred men. With the help of the KPs I got thru alright and (cut out) plenty of eats. We had a treat the other night, had a bix box of stick-candy, the first I have tasted since over here. Sunday after writing the letter I started out for a little walk, leaving here at noon walked up the track and over to the town of Menil La Tour and cam back by way of Sanzey, got back about six o'clock. I must have walked about 25 kilo meter (15 1/2 mi). I was good and tired also hungry and muddy. The last few days we have had lot of rain and getting very cool again. Xmas is only thirteen days (cut out) but we don't notice it over here. All we talk about is home and how soon we shall see it. Some say we will be there by January, some February and as late as July. Gee I hope it will not be July. Just got thru feeding a couple of Russian prisoners. They all have U.S. clothing on. I don't think I will doing any walking to day it still raining, maybe I will walk down to Frondes and get a cigar and a new pencil. Will quit now dinner is ready. With lots & lots of love &kisses to my dear wife From her Solder Hubby
