Dear Honey,
Well here I am in another town this time having moved last week. We left Friday afternoon and arrived in Verdun 3 a.m. the next moring. This was the fastest ride I have had in France and if they take me home that fast I won't be long in getting there. Saturday I took a walk thru what was one a big town, but not now. Not a single building is left, well words can't describe what the hun did to that town and the vicinity. I found the Y on top of the hill in the town located in an old convent. They were serving the big hot chocolate and sandwiches . I bought a few and also got some cigars. Walk around for a while and came back to the car. Oh yes, we are still living in the box cards. I will go back again and see some more ruins as I only seen a small part of it the first time. This morning I took a train ride up to "dead Man Hills" about 6 or 8 miles above here. Believe me that is some shot up place, shell holes, skulls, bones, and everything you can think of. Some of the boys found some rings for a finger, others got skulls, bayonets and other articles for souvenirs. I won't try to describe it all now for it will take too much paper.
I got my shot in the arm alright and it made me a little sick for a half day, but I did not work for four day. When we got here we met a lot of the boys from the old 47th Engineer. They are now the 41st & 47th CoTC. Also seen a few American Y girls over here and spoke to them. Gee but it make me feel homesick, but I had to get over it. I will send "The Star &Stripes" tonight and I want to write Schaf a letter so will close now and send my honey all my love & kisses From her soldier

Don't know when I will be home yet.
