New York City Oct. 22 /18 My Dear Hilda,     Your letter and check enclosed received today and will answer at once to let you know it arrived safely.  I will go down town tomorrow Hilda and get your dress and will mail it parcel-post, also mail you a letter with bill enclosed and if it is more or less will send you change by money order I think a 16 yr size would fit you but think I shall ask Gertrude to go along and pretend it is for her and she is my sister as they don't like to sell wholesale to anyone else but the company's families.       I was sorry Hilda to hear you have had so much sick-ness in your family and hope they will all get well again, also yourself, you better not try to go out to soon as you may get a relapse and that is how pneumonia developes.  We also have had a death in our family from Spanish Influenza, Louis's sister's husband a young man 28 yrs old and leaves a wife and two children, perhaps I tol...

Monday Afternoon 2 P.M. Sept 23-18 Dear Honey,      Another day off and will write a few words to you.  Got up at 8-30 this AM took a walk around the camp trying to find a place to get my shoes repaired but have not succeded yet.  Think I will have to take them to town about six miles away.  Also heard the band in the neighboring camp rehearing this AM.  They have 42 pieces and are very good musicians.  Got my picture last night, but don't like them will send a few home at a time.  Got 12 pictures.  The photographer told me to lean over a little and the picture makes me look round shoulder which is not my right appearance.  When I go to town I will have a good picture taken with my best clothes  on and then I hope I will make a better picture.  Am going to get an order for the things I want from  home but don't know whether I can get my butcher kives and army knife over here or not.  I don't remember what wool cl...
